Just so people know the top of the world lounge is not open to all guest staying at baylake lower. You can not just book a room as a guest and go up. You MUST be a DVC member using your points. We stayed there the second week it was open and were never told this up front. Disney of course was great and move us to the main building up to a suit on the 14 floor (which frankly was better then staying at bay lake). For the price of renting a room this is really an issue. Also the staff were upset because they said business was not good because of the restriction. Just thought I would let you all know.
ReplyDeleteGreat web site - thanks.
Can you be staying in a room with a DVC member and go up?

Yes.
When I asked the check in desk, they said a member staying at Bay Lake Tower can bring as many guests as they like within reason.
Yes our Grandmother came with us to the Top of the World when we last visited and she is not a DVC member but we are. The Top of the World is a great hidden gem where you can enjoy a great meal of appitizers and drinks. It was ironic our waiter the night before "Peter" was the same waiter we had at Top of the World. The fireworks were awesome; the speakers in the lounge and outside viewing area, where you can hear the music perfectly. Sorry but the private and exclusive Top of the World is truely better than the public California Grill.
ReplyDeleteAre the kids invited?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the lounge is doing anything special for the 4th of July? Last year they had a members cookout but we are unable to find any information on anything for this year
ReplyDeleteIf you are renting from a DVC member and not reserving through disney can you see the lounge?
ReplyDeleteThe TOW is a hidden treasure - Past and Present!
ReplyDeleteIn the 80's the TOW was an awesome place to have breakfast or Dinner. We spent MANY an Easter Sunday eating an endless breakfast buffet at the TOW.
The Dinner shows were top notch and the stars they would bring in were really cool!
Here's some Disney trivia - The TOW had a special piano - what was the special feature of the piano? (Answer Below)
My thanks to the Big Band that used to play there nightly . . . they were the inspiration to my trumpet playing . . . Chris Baldwin Graham River Productions (Answer) The Piano was clear!
This was open to anyone when it was established in 1971...a fabulous Sunday brunch destination for our group from Tampa...
ReplyDeleteVegas style acts etc...
Alas,'tis no more...
Can kids go to the Top of the World Lounge?
ReplyDeleteYes children can go to the Top of the Tower Lounge.
DeleteDoes TOW take the dining plan?
ReplyDeleteFor all of the private and exclusive rules in force just to get up there, letting kids in the TOW bar seems a bit surprising. I know WDW is designed to be a family frendly place. I totally get it. But I would love to go to one place in WDW besides Victoria and Albert's where My wife and I can relax, have a drink and not have to trip over a stroller or listen to screaming kids. Its a bar. An apparently very exclusive one. Its not Chef Mickeys. Also heard the place can only accommodate 80 guests at a time. So someone staying at BL,even under the rules still may not get in. Is that true?
ReplyDeleteOK we are DVC members staying on points in Sept. My parents, sister and brother-in-law will be staying with us. Will they be able to get access with out us being present? If we want to be at the pool/park, and they want to hang out in the lounge. Is this allowed?
ReplyDeleteAs a DVC member, will this perk be available for Oct. 2013 I am really anxious to experience this.
